Remember... this year the Girls can propose to the BOYS!

29th February is the traditional time that women can propose to their men. Even in these enlightened days it is still quite rare for a woman to propose marriage. When the rules of courtship were stricter, women were only allowed to pop the question on the 29th February / leap years.

Escher

Princess Escher (white), originally uploaded by rmrayner.

Named after the surreal mathematical artist who created three dimensional illusions in print.

1.04ct princess cut diamond set on the horizontal axis with matching double pairs of 2.50mm princess cuts. Set in platinum.

A very tricky design to get right as it might have come out looking really bad. The whole setting has to curve to fit the finger nicely and the supposedly sharp corners need to be smooth and flowing in reality. Photographed for rumouronline.com.

Alexandrite pendant

Alexandrite pendant, originally uploaded by rmrayner.
Alexandrite is an ultra rare and expensive stone, but I was presented with only one trilliant cut stone so was at a loss what to design it into... a pendant or brooch seemed the only likely choices. Photographed for our website and portfolio.

Named after The Czar Alexander II. Chromium makes it appear as two colours. Natural or fluorescent light makes it green & tungsten makes it red.
